South Indian Tamarind Rice

  

Ingrediants (for 4 servings)

  • Basmati Rice 2 cup
  • Tamarind juice 1/2cup  
  • Mustard seeds 1/4tsp
  • Peanuts 2 tsp
  • Red chillies 4
  • Garlic 4 flakes(chopped)
  • Urad dal 1/2tsp
  • Channa dal 1/2tsp
  • Fenugreek powder 1/4tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
  • Curry leaves 8-10
  • Asafoetida 2 pinch.  
  • Oil 3 tsp.  
  • Salt as per taste    
  • Chopped coriander 1 tsp

Method (How to make tamarind rice)

  • Clean and wash rice and cook the rice with 4 cup of water&salt and keep a side
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when mustard seeds pops, add urad dal, channa dal cook untill golden brown, now add peanuts and cook for 2 minuts
  • Add red chillies, garlic &curry leaves and cook untill garlic becomes golden.
  • Add tamarind juice & turmeric powder, fenugreek powder & asafoetida.
  • Boil tamarind juice untill it becomes thick.
  • Now add cooked rice and mix thoroughly and cook for 2 minuts.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
