Whole Moong Dal Idli

Ingredients (for3-4 servings)

1 cup whole green moong

2 tsp of oil,

1 medium sized onionfinally chopped

2 tsp of green chilliand ginger paste

2 tbls coriander leavesfinally chopped

1 tbls grated fresh coconut

1/2 tsp mustard

8-10 kari leaves

Salt to taste

Method

Wash and soak the moong for 4-5 hours or overnight.

Drain the water from moong dal and coarsly grind it without adding any water..

Finely chop the onion, green chilles and coriander leaves and mix with ground paste. Add 1 tsp oil, grated coconut and salt and mix well.

Greased idli stand with oil and Pour the mixture gently into greased idli moulds and steam in a steamer for 10 to 12 minutes till they are done.

Remove from the steam and cut it into two peices.

Heat 1 tsp oil in a non stick pan, fry mustaed seeds and curry leaves. Add chopped moong idli and fry for 4-5 minuts in low flame.

Serve hot with green chutney or tomato chutney.
