Rice Kheer


Preparation time 30-40 mins

Ingredient (4 serving)

  • ½ cup rice
  • 1 ½liters of milk
  • 2-3 cardamom powder
  • 8-10 chopped almonds
  • 8-10 chopped cashews
  • 1 cup sugar
  • A few saffron threads soaked in warm milk



  • Wash the rice and let soak for 1 hour.
  • Put the rice, milk and cardamom in a pan, bring to boil and simmer gently until
  • The rice is soft and the grains are starting to break up, cook utill milk become half of its quantity
  • Add almonds, cashews, saffron and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the sugar and stir continuously until sugar completely dissolved.
  • Remove the rice kheer from heat and serve either warm or chilled.
