Pooran Poli



  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp ghee for Moyn
  • ½ tsp salt

For filling

  • 1 cup gram dal
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3-4 grounded cardamom
  • Finely chopped nuts if desired
  • To Cook ghee


  • Sieve the flour and mix the salt and ghee for moyn, knead the soft dough using water.
  • Cover the dough with a cloth for half an hour.

For filling:

  • Soak the channa dal for two hours in the water.
  • Boil the Soaked channa dal, when it became soft remove the excess water.
  • Grind the channa dal without water.
  • Now take the little ghee in a frying pan fry the channa dal on medium flame.
  • Then add the sugar, grounded cardamom and finely chopped nuts.
  • Stir continuously for 5 min. Let it be cool. The filling is ready.

For Pooran poli:

  • Make the lemon size bolls with dough.
  • Fill the cooled filling material inside the boll.
  • Make the roti of the mix filled boll.
  • Roll the roti of the filled boll on the rolling board using the rolling pin.
  • Now fry this Roti on a hot Tava with applying the desi ghee on both side of roti.
  • Fry the roti until golden brown and crispy.
  • The pooran poli is ready.
