Red Kidney Beans Curry - Rajma Ki Sabji


Materials Required

  •          1 cup of red kidney beans
  •          Baking Soda ¼  tsp
  •          2 medium-sized onions
  •          Garlic 4-5 pond
  •          3-4 large tomatoes
  •          Green Chillies 2-3
  •          Oil 1 tbsp
  •          Large Cardamom 1
  •          1 inch piece cinnamon
  •          1 pinch of asafoetida
  •          1 tsp cumin
  •          1 tsp turmeric powder
  •          Coriander powder   ½ teaspoon
  •          Red chili powder   1 tsp
  •          1 tsp Garam masala
  •          Coriander leaves 1  tbsp (finely chopped)


·        Wash and soak beans in the water and add baking soda and leave for atleast6-8hr.

·        Put the beans in a cooker add 1 glass of water and put on the gas.

·        After 1 whistle, cook on low flame 7-8 min. turn off the gas.

·        Make paste of onions, garlic, tomatoes, green chillies and ginger in grinder.

·        Heat oil in pan. In hot oil, add cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, asafetida fry few sec. Now add the paste and fry till oil separate.

·        Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder. And fry until the oil does not float on top of the spice.

·        Now add the boiled beans with water and cook till it start boiling. You can add more water as per the thickness of the curry you required.

·        Add garam masala, and switch off the gas.

·        Razma curry is ready, garnish with coriander leaves.

·        Serve hot with rice and chapati.
