Gatte ki sabzi


Ingredients Required

To make Gatte  

  • 2 cups Gram flour
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Soda bi corb 2 pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp carom seed
  • one teaspoon of coriander (crushed)

To make gravy

  • 2 medium-sized onions
  • Ginger 1 inch long piece
  • Fresh yogurt cup
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • 1 pinch of asafetida
  • Half teaspoon cumin seed
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Green coriander leaves 1 tbsp (finely chopped)


  • Take gram flour in a big pot add carom seed and crushed coriander seeds, oil, salt, soda bi corb and mix well
  • With the help of warm water need the flour and make the soft dough. Leave  the dough for 10 minutes.
  • Make 10cm diameter and about 4 inches long cylindrical roll. Make roll with all dough.
  • In a pot take about 5 cups of water and boil on the gas.
  • When the water start boiling, then put the rolls in the boiling water and boil for 15 minutes then turn off the gas.
  • Take out the rolls from the water in plate and do not throw the water it will be used in gravy.
  • Cut rolls into ½ inch pieces.
  • Now chop onion garlic and ginger
  • Heat oil in frying, put asafetida and cumin and wait till cumin become brown.
  • Add onion and fry till onions becomes slightly golden, add the ginger and garlic and fry few min.
  • Now put the turmeric powder, coriander powder and mix. 
  • Now add chopped rolls pieces and fry on low heat until golden.
  • Add yogurt, red chilli, garam masala, salt and add remaining water which is left after the rolls boiling.
  • Once the gravy start boiling let it be boil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now Gatte Ki Sabji ready turn off the burner and add the coriander leaves Serve with Roti or rice.
